Like so many of our partners across the region, in the interest of community health, we will be postponing our 25th Anniversary Community Luncheon, originally scheduled for March 26th.
Stay tuned for a new date for the event.

Kingmakers of Oakland (KOO) was born out of the Oakland Unified School District’s Office of African American Male Achievement. KOO is a nonprofit organization, whose goal is to provide support and technical assistance to schools, districts and organizations interested in improving educational and life outcomes for Black male students. The Department of African American Male Achievement (AAMA) critically examines the systemic practices through a racial equity lens to assess and build capacity for a system to engage, empower, and educate Black boys and young male students. Seattle Public Schools' AAMA was created to directly address anti-black institutional and structural racism by creating educational systems, structures, and spaces that guarantee success for all AAM students in SPS. The Alliance for Education's mission is to support excellence in education by advancing educational justice and racial equity for students in Seattle Public Schools. Our vision is a deeply invested community that collectively ensures all students in the district experience a sense of belonging, receive an excellent and equitable education, and reach their fullest potential.
2020 marks the Alliance for Education’s 25th year working on behalf of Seattle students. In partnership with Seattle Public Schools, the Alliance serves as a catalyst for change, a convener of community leadership, and a conduit for directing private resources – both dollars and innovation – in support of our public education system. Over the last two and a half decades, we have leveraged over $155 million from the community in support of SPS, investing in key capacity-building efforts, new frameworks for teacher preparation, and programs designed to break down barriers to education. Entering our milestone year, we look forward to working in partnership with the community, leveraging our recently crafted strategic plan to further advance racial equity and excellence in Seattle Public Schools.
